About Beta Alpha Psi

Beta Alpha Psi is a national accounting honorary fraternity that strives to recognize those accounting majors who have maintained high academic standards. Founded in 1919 on the University of Illinois campus, Beta Alpha Psi was established as an honorary and professional fraternity for the accounting profession. Since its inception, the organization has developed into a major national scholastic and professional fraternity.

Its primary objectives are (1) to promote the study and practice of accounting, (2) to provide opportunities for self-development and association among members and practicing accountants, and (3) to encourage a sense of ethical, social, and public responsibility among students of accounting. Beta Alpha Psi recognizes six key principles of professional and personal conduct: intellectual integrity, loyal service, respect for confidence, professional bearing, responsible behavior, and personal appearance. The organization believes that adherence to these principles will lead to a successful career in accounting.

Founded in 1957, the Beta Alpha Psi chapter at Indiana University is a national scholastic and professional accounting fraternity. The primary objective of the fraternity is to encourage and give recognition to scholastic and professional excellence in the field of accounting. This includes promoting the study and practice of accounting, providing opportunities for self-development and association among members and practicing accountants, and encouraging a sense of ethical, social, and public responsibility.

Association among members is fostered through the wide variety of committees within Beta Alpha Psi, each providing unique opportunities for involvement with other students and the community. At Indiana University, the fraternity also invites recruiters to campus to give students a greater look at the opportunities and issues in the accounting profession. The annual Jobs Fair and Recruiting Banquet allows member and pledges the chance to speak with professionals on a one-on-one basis.
